What To Expect During Your Session
Newbies: If you are new to massage and bodywork, some questions you may have regarding what to expect are answered HERE. And please read Covid protocols in Bodywork in the Time of Covid.
Intake Forms: Prior to your initial session, you will need to print and fill out an Intake Form. Mei will review your health history with you, and cover any concerns you may have. For oncology clients, you may need your Physician's Approval prior to your session. You will be treated with dignity and respect, and all information is held in strict confidentiality. Communication and Massage / MLD Draping: New and returning clients can be at ease, knowing that Mei will work to ensure your session will be positive and beneficial. Your modesty is respected at all times; only the area being massaged is undraped. If you feel any discomfort during the session, communicate your concerns, and the technique can be modified for your comfort. Personal and professional boundaries are respected at all times. Clear client-therapist communication is essential to receiving the session you need. Craniosacral-only sessions are done clothed, please wear or bring loose fitting, comfortable clothes, such as yoga or sweat pants, and a tee shirt. For more information about what to expect in a Craniosacral session, click HERE, for an MLD session, click HERE. Creams and oils: If you have allergies to certain topical ingredients in creams or oils, please inform Mei before you arrive. Unscented, paraben-free Biotone massage cream is used alone, or in combination with organic jojoba oil from The Jojoba Company, or arnica oil from Weleda. If you have a preference, let Mei know. Complimentary essential oils to aid relaxation or to ease breathing can be added upon request. Catching something? If you feel you are coming down with a cold or other illness, it is highly recommended that you reschedule your session. Massage and bodywork may actually make you feel worse more quickly, and since you may be contagious, it is better not to share it with your therapist! |
Cancelations or Running Late for Your Appointment? Life gets hectic, and traffic can make it difficult to get to your appointment on time. Please text if you are running late. Appointments are scheduled with enough time in between for such contingencies. Your session time begins when hands touch you, not when you arrive or during the intake process. However, if your late arrival does not leave you with time for a full session, you will be given the option to reschedule. If you need to cancel your appointment, please inform Mei within 24 hours of your session.
