Selah Massage & Bodywork ~ Mei Leslie, LMT, CST-T, CMLDT
During years of training and competing in martial arts, I discovered therapeutic bodywork for maintaining my workouts, but found that the benefits overflowed to other areas of life, contributing to greater balance and well-being. Receiving consistent bodywork resulted in less pain for me, better flexibility and body awareness. I knew after leaving martial arts that I wanted to pass on the benefits of therapeutic bodywork to others. I replaced black belt techniques with compassionate touch, and found that the intention and discipline that drove my training before could be channeled into a new endeavor, so I began massage school in 2006.
After a decade of helping clients with deep tissue massage, and with encouragement from a beloved family member diagnosed with cancer, I directed my practice toward serving clients undergoing treatments, and became a Preferred Provider for the Society for Oncology Massage. Oncology massage is a safer, gentler massage, more conducive for relaxation and tailored for varying client conditions.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle and profound modality, with even greater and varied applications. I first encountered CST in massage school, but later benefitted from this life-changing therapy through a colleague, who with it, helped initiate my healing from a traumatic physical incident. That was my true introduction. In 2015 I began training in CST with the Upledger Institute, and completed their first certification level in 2018. CST has transformed the way I approach bodywork. I am simply a facilitator for the changes the body is ready to make. My training with Upledger is on-going and exhilarating; I serve as a teaching assistant in classes and host a CST study group.
In 2021 I was certified in the Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), a light-touch technique that moves excess fluid from effected areas to lymph nodes, which is beneficial for those with a cancer history, or for any one needing detoxification.
I have been privileged to work with clients of all ages, in private, corporate and clinical settings. Craniosacral sessions, oncology massage, and MLD are always customized to your needs, with the goal of honoring and listening to your body, and supporting you in your journey to wholeness.
Bodywork and the brain are fascinating subjects! But I also enjoy cycling, gardening, kayaking, snowshoeing, or playing my Triplett folk harp.
