Oncology Massage & Craniosacral Therapy
for Cancer Support
Compassionate and intentional touch plays a vital role in supporting clients undergoing cancer treatments.
Oncology Massage is not a treatment for cancer, but a complementary therapy to reduce the stress the client experiences undergoing surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
An oncology massage therapist has been specially trained to address the side effects of cancer or its various treatments. Even after people are out of treatment, receiving bodywork from an oncology therapist is important due to the potential for late effects of treatment. An oncology therapist will adapt techniques to meet the changing bodywork considerations during and after cancer treatment, with the client’s safety and comfort foremost in mind.
Massage therapy during cancer treatment has been shown to reduce pain and anxiety; other benefits may include reduction in nausea, depression and fatigue. Because cancer presents itself differently in each person, your medical treatment is tailored to you; likewise, your massage will be customized to meet your specific needs.
Craniosacral Therapy is a whole-body approach that supports the client through treatment and recovery. In addition to the benefits above, Craniosacral therapy has been known to help alleviate side effects from treatments, restore energy and vitality, and strengthen the immune system. It helps the tissues by improving circulation and oxygenation, and reduces inflammation. Craniosacral therapy can be a stand-alone treatment or combined with gentle massage. Visit the Craniosacral page for more information.
Please fill out an Oncology Intake Form before your first visit. In some cases a Physician's Approval Form from your oncologist will be necessary.
