In-Home Visits: I am often asked if I do in-home visits. For clients with special circumstances, such as a chronic illness or undergoing cancer treatment, home visits may be arranged on a case by case basis. Special circumstances include if the client is non-ambulatory or too weak to travel. There must be access for treatment around a bed or reclining chair. Clients owning or having access to a portable massage table is ideal (I cannot bring one to the home). And the treatment environment/area must be smoke-free and pet- and dander-free. I travel within a 10-mile radius of my office in Lombard, and an additional fee of $40 is required with the session fee.
Therapeutic Massage
A Therapeutic Massage session may include Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue techniques.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage uses medium but firm pressure, with gliding, kneading and cross-fiber strokes. These techniques ease muscle soreness and tension, improve flexibility, and can be both relaxing and energizing. Some immediate benefits include stress relief, improved sleep, greater sense of well-being, and deeper and easier breathing.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue techniques will release chronic muscle tension, adhesions, and trigger points by applying direct pressure or friction across the muscle fibers. Deep tissue does not necessarily mean deep pressure. The intention is to respond to various tissue qualities. Benefits include improved range of motion and posture, and relief from the chronic pain-spasm cycle.
Pre-Natal Massage
This is a therapeutic, pampering massage, tailored for the expectant, or post-delivery mother. It is designed to alleviate the unique stresses that pregnancy places on a woman’s body: addressing back, sacroiliac joint, neck, and leg pain in particular. The client lays comfortably on her side, supported by plenty of pillows and bolsters. It's not unusual for the client to drift off into some much needed sleep.
